AC Portland launched "Advantage Centers" in six of the Portland area’s soccer-loving neighborhoods at seven elementary schools wrestling with low student achievement: James John Elementary, Cesar Chavez Elementary, Whitman Elementary, Markham Elementary, Barnes Elementary, Davis Elementary and Oliver/Parklane Elementary. Through one, centrally-located showcase site and connections to area school, youth agency and community programs, AC Portland will reach more than 1,000 elementary school age students and will provide:

• Two 10-week seasons of America SCORES
• Two 12-week seasons of the U.S Soccer Foundation's Soccer for Success- held three times per week during the academic year (fall and spring)
• Six regional events for students from throughout the city
• Neighborhood and Portland regional Poetry Slams – for young and young at heart
• Soccer uniforms – the FIRST for most students – and equipment necessary for safe, fun and fulfilling soccer play
• Balls, goals, equipment and supplies for soccer and all curricular activities
• Compelling coach, teacher, parent and mentor training events
• Volunteer labor and action through local community supporters and the Timbers Army 107IST as well as ongoing support from The Portland Timbers and adidas America
• Access to curriculum for school-day and after-school programming to Youth Development Agency and District hosts

Long-term Goal: AC Portland will build local leadership and capacity in management and fundraising in each neighborhood to ensure sustainable operations and expansion.
