Joel Newman is a the founder Soccer Shots Portland, a fun, non-competitive, soccer skill building experience for children ages 2-8. Joel’s educational background includes a BA in Religious Studies with a focus in Japanese Buddhism and a Masters in Business with a focus in marketing, both from OSU. Joel has also taken specialized, short courses in market strategy, leadership and overseeing pension funds. Before starting Soccer Shots, Joel served as the Sr Director of US Market Development for the Australian Trade Commission at their office in Los Angeles.
There he spent 8 years advising small to medium sized Australian companies in how to reduce the time, cost and risk associated with exporting into the US marketplace. While there he did 2-3 year stints in the food and beverage, financial services and arts industries. While there, Joel also served as a Team Trainer, visiting offices in Australia, Japan, South America and North America to facilitate large organizational changes and IT roll outs.
Prior to all this, Joel has worked in a bank, managed a restaurant, waited tables, cooked, tutored, babysat and delivered papers, but his favorite job was working as a camp counselor for 9 summers.
